Our Story

So close. Every single year.

In 2019, Fossil Ridge Cheer stood on top of the nation as National Champions. Since then, the SaberCats have climbed back onto the national podium four years in a row — bronze, silver, bronze, silver — every time within reach of the top step.

This season, the team is the 2026 Regional and League Champion and earned bids to UCA Nationals in two divisions: Game Day and Traditional. It's the largest and most prestigious high school cheerleading championship in the country.

"We don't want a family's ability to pay to stand in the way of our team's opportunity to compete."

Nationals travel is paid entirely by athlete families, and airfare for the team and coaches has nearly doubled. Every dollar you give is shared equally across the team, lowering the cost for every family.

Two Shots at a Title

Twice the routines. Twice the work.

Our SaberCats earned bids in both divisions, which means two complete routines to perfect before February.

Small Division I

Game Day

Recreates the sideline and crowd-leading role of a school squad in a real game situation: band chants, situational sideline cheers, and the fight song. Judges score crowd engagement, communication, and execution. This is where Fossil Ridge has medaled four straight years.

Small Division I

Traditional

The classic competition routine set to music, packed with stunts, pyramids, tumbling, jumps, and dance. It's a second, completely separate routine and a second chance to bring a national title home.

Where Your Gift Goes

Every dollar gets them on the mat.

Funds go directly to Nationals expenses and are shared equally across all 17 athletes.

Airfare · 17 athletes + 3 coaches
The biggest cost, nearly doubled from prior years
Nationals registration
Athlete entry for both divisions
Lodging
Shared team vacation rental
Ground transportation
Rental vans for the team
Meals & supplies
Groceries for parent-cooked team meals

How families keep costs down

  • The team shares one large vacation rental instead of staying on Disney property.
  • Parents volunteer to cook home-made team meals instead of eating out.
  • Rental vans replace taxis and rideshares.
  • Families still pay the remaining balance. Your gift reduces it for everyone.

FAQ

Good questions.

What is UCA Nationals?

The UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) is the largest and most prestigious high school cheer competition in the country. It has run for more than 40 years and is hosted by the Universal Cheerleaders Association at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Teams must earn a bid at a qualifying competition to attend. Fossil Ridge earned bids in two divisions this season.

What's the difference between Game Day and Traditional?

Game Day simulates a squad's real sideline role: leading the crowd with band chants, situational cheers, and the fight song. Traditional is the classic competition routine set to music, with stunts, pyramids, tumbling, and jumps. They're two separate routines, judged separately.

Will I get a receipt?

Yes. ColoradoGives.org processes every gift and emails your receipt directly. For questions about receipts or your giving history, see the Colorado Gives Help Center.

Every gift goes to the team as a whole and is shared equally among all athletes.

What will the money be spent on?

Nationals expenses only: airfare for athletes and coaches, competition registration, lodging, ground transportation, and team meals. Funds are applied equally across the whole team to lower each family's cost. See the breakdown above.

Doesn't the school pay for this?

Fossil Ridge High School and the district support other parts of the cheer program, but travel and competition costs for Nationals fall entirely on athlete families.

Is there a donation match?

Yes, for a limited time. Through Colorado Gives Day 2026, the Colorado Gives Foundation is matching new recurring (monthly) donations 100%, up to $100 per donation, while match funds last. To qualify, choose the monthly option when you donate.

When is Nationals, and can I watch?

The team travels to Orlando February 3–8, 2027. The competition streams live on Varsity TV, and we'll post results and highlights here and on our social channels.

Can my business sponsor the team?

Absolutely. Visit our Support Us page for sponsorship options, or contact the Booster Club.
